Rioters block section of Thika road
Motorists plying Thika road going to Zimmerman and the entire Kahawa West area were early Wednesday morning forced to seek alternative routes or abandon their journey altogether, following demonstrations by rioting bodaboda and some matatu operators following the death of one of their own – a matatu conductor under unclear circumstances late Tuesday.
They claim that the conductor was shot by a policeman after he asked the officer to pay his fare.
The rioters have blocked the roads with burning tyres and huge rocks.
Police have arrived at the scene and are currently trying to disperse the demonstrators.
