Road users urged to be extra vigilant during rainy season

Motorists have been cautioned to drive carefully due to the heavy rains being experienced in the country.

The National Transport and Safety Authority (NTSA), Director General Francis Meja has said that the rains create potentially dangerous conditions for road users and advised motorists to be extra vigilant.

He also encouraged motorists to consider safety first whenever the roads are flooded by using alternative routes.

BRIGHT CLOTHING

“As a motorist, you need to always turn on the headlights to increase visibility and keep a good distance from the car in front. This is because spray from other vehicles can also reduce your vision. Always keep both hands on the steering wheel to enable you have full control and check tyres and replace them if worn out,” Mr Meja said.

He further advised pedestrians, cyclists and motorcyclists to wear bright clothing or reflector jackets.
