Robert Alai: Jubilee is a serious baggage to Azimio
Kileleshwa MCA Robert Alai has described the Jubilee party leadership is a serious baggage to Azimio la Umoja – One Kenya Alliance coalition.
Making the declaration on Twitter, Alai suggested the party should be allowed to sort their mess before they are invited to come back as they are proving to be weak and confused.
His remarks come hours after the Azimio leader Raila Odinga heaped praises on former President Uhuru Kenyatta for being brave and not being swayed by threats on his party.
However, Alai, a staunch Azimio supporter feels otherwise and tweeted, “Lakini Jubilee is serious baggage to Azimio now. Only fair that they sort their mess and then get invited to come back. House leadership should be shared between ODM and other parties in Azimio but not Jubilee. Jubilee’s leadership is proving to be weak and confused. Let them put their house in order.”

Mr Kenyatta on Monday 22nd, 2023, appeared to stamp his authority in the party amid an onslaught by Sabina Chege and East Africa Legislative Assembly MP Kanini Kega.
The duo had teamed up with a section of Jubilee MPs to kick out Mr Kenyatta as party leader alongside Secretary-General Jeremiah Kioni, Vice-Chairman David Murathe, and Treasurer Kagwe Gichohi.
The rebels named Ms Chege as the new party leader and Mr Kega as the new Secretary-General.
In his way of asserting authority as the party leader, Mr Kenyatta made changes with the rebels being expelled from his party.
To fill the leadership vacuum created by the expulsions, Jubilee announced several changes within its ranks. Former Permanent Secretary Saitoti Torome was appointed the new National Chairman, replacing Nelson Dzuya.
Yasin Noor, a respected party member, was named the deputy secretary-general replacing Mr Kutuny. In a move aimed at bolstering the party’s electoral strategy, Jamleck Kamau was appointed the national director of elections taking over from Mr Kega.
Jubilee also appointed blogger Pauline Njoroge as its new deputy organizing secretary. Rights activist Maison Leshoomo was named the Women’s League national chair, emphasising the party’s commitment to gender equality and inclusivity.
