George Wajackoyah’s running mate Justina Wamae makes fresh claims on presidential campaign

Former Roots Party running mate Justina Wamae has suggested the party’s flagbearer Professor George Wajackoyah was paid to ’cause commotion’ at the presidential debate on July 26th, 2022.

In a tweet, while responding to allegations made by a political analyst Mutahi Ngunyi, Wamae further claimed that Wajackoyah succumbed to pressure from the organizers not to cause the alleged commotion’.

She said, “There is a bit @MutahiNgunyi forgot to mention about the day of the debate. They had paid ‘him’ to go cause drama during Presidential Candidate Ruto’s debate at Catholic University. But the stern warning by the organizers sent chills down ‘his’ spine akaogopa kama vile aliogopa aliposema I don’t fear death in Kiambu next minute…. jamaa ako chini ya kiti ya gari😂😂😂But Kenyans aren’t ready for that conversation.”

Prof Wajackoyah skipped the debate citing discrimination by the media after he was paired with David Mwaure of the Agano Party, in the first phase of the interview.

He accused the media of having a predetermined outcome of the debate by painting the candidates on the basis of popularity,

“Roots Party would like to state that our presidential candidate Prof Wajackoyah will not attend the presidential debate because we will not subject the incoming President to the joke of an already predetermined debate,” Wajackoyah’s Spokesperson Wilson Muirani alias Jaymo Ule Msee said in a statement.

In the second phase of the interview candidates William Ruto of the United Democratic Alliance (UDA) and Raila Odinga of the Azimio la Umoja-One Kenya Alliance were expected to explain what they would do if they occupied the presidential seat but only Dr Ruto showed up.

During an interview with NTV, Ngunyi claimed that Wajackoyah’s manifesto launch was funded by the State in a bid to irritate Dr Ruto.

“We funded Wajackoyah’s (presidential candidate) launch. The way we did it, we want it (the launch to happen at the same time Ruto was doing his launch. I wanted to do this to irritate him (Ruto). He would not want to share that moment with someone on TV,” he said.

However, Wajackoyah has dismissed the allegations and attacked Ngunyi for using his position in the party for his own political advantage.

“The remarks are baseless, unfounded and serve to insult our party. Roots Party is a national party and does not subscribe to tokenism, a field Mutahi Ngunyi holds a PHD in. We refuse to be used as an entry narrative in unholy political matrimony. For a man who survives by peddling false political conjectures, it is at least worrying that he will use our party to kneel before Ruto,” he said.

Ngunyi recently ditched former President Uhuru Kenyatta, his boss of ten years, for William Ruto.President Ruto.

Wamae fell out with Wajackoyah after the August 2022 presidential elections, amid accusations from both politicians, leading to her exit from the Roots party.
