Ruto, Gachagua, steal the show at WRC Rally trophy ceremony in Naivasha


In a stunning display of unity and style, President Ruto and his Deputy Rigathi Gachagua stole the show in Naivasha as they rocked matching stylish sunglasses and sported similar outfits during the WRC Safari Rally trophy ceremony.

The two leaders synchronized appearance created an electrifying atmosphere, capturing the attention of both rally winners and supporters.

As the thrilling motorsport event came to a close, the Head of State and his Deputy made a grand entrance, while exuding confidence and charisma.

Sporting sleek sunglasses that shielded their eyes from the bright Naivasha sun, they radiated a sense of coolness and purpose.

Their choice of attire further solidified their powerful presence and offered a flash back of how how President Ruto and his predecessor Uhuru Kenyatta once donned matching shirts, with sleeves rolled up, and ties at State House back in the day.

Chief Prime Cabinet Secretary Musalia Mudavadi, Sports Cabinet Secretary Ababu Namwamba, Nakuru governor Susan Kihika, Harambee Stars captain Michael Olunga and Africa’s fastest Ferdinand Omanyala were also in attendance at the event that attracted thousands of spectators.

Dressed in a white shirt, a black trouser and a black pair of sport shoes, Gachagua stimulated rally lovers by dashing to the podium to welcome president Ruto.

After being introduced by his deputy, President Ruto also dashed to the podium to address the nation.

He congratulated Sebastian Ogier and Vincent Landais for winning the world’s most spectacular and grueling WRC event, the Safari Rally.

“You (Ogier and Landais) are conquerors of terrain and machine, and King of the 70th Safari Rally 2023. I also commend the 19 Kenyan drivers who took part in the 70th Safari Rally, among them Carl Tundo who was third in WRC category 2. We look forward to more exciting competition next year.,” Ruto expressed his joy.

The duo expressed their pride in Kenya’s successful hosting of the WRC Safari Rally and emphasized the importance of sports in promoting national unity and showcasing the country’s capabilities to the world.

The 2023 Safari kicked off on June 22 to 25, 2023.

Safari Rally returned to Kenya in 2021 following a 19-year hiatus.
