Ruto: Nobody can steal my votes
Deputy President William Ruto has warned that ‘no one’ is in a position to rig the August 2022 polls.
The DP who is gunning to succeed his boss President Uhuru Kenyatta spoke on Friday while on the campaign trail alongside Musalia Mudavadi and Moses Wetangula.
He warned: “Our competitors know we have defeated them in planning and policymaking. They are now saying they will rig the election.”
He went on: “We are telling them we are ready for them and God is with us. No one can steal our vote and the one thinking about this is daydreaming.
“We are asking our supporters not to get shaken by such utterances on plans to rig the election.”
Mudavadi added: “The statement by Sabina Chege is reckless and very unfortunate. We cannot allow to take the path of election theft and undermining if democracy. We want to win elections in first round because the country has no money for a repeat election Our economy is bleeding and cannot afford a second round of election.”
Ruto and Mudavadi made these comments a day after Murang’a Woman Representative Sabina Chege’s suggested that President Uhuru Kenyatta and Ruto’s victory during the 2017 polls was compromised.
She spoke at an Azimio la Umoja rally in Vihiga County on Thursday, in a move that sparked mixed reactions.
