Dutch great Ruud Gullit slams Wanyama for poor performance against Ajax

Dutch legend and former Chelsea coach Ruud Gullit has tore into Victor Wanyama’s performance following Tottenham Hotspur’s 1-0 loss to Ajax Amsterdam in the Uefa Champions League semi-final first leg match at White Hart Lane on Tuesday night.

The 56-year-old Dutchman, who boasts a successful playing career with spells at AC Milan, Feyenoord and Chelsea during his heyday, made his submissions while appearing as a pundit on Bein Sports alongside former Arsenal coach Arsene Wenger and former Chelsea and French defender Marcel Desailly.

In what should greatly concern Harambee Stars coach Sebastian Migne ahead of the 2019 Africa Cup of Nations, a tournament Wanyama is expected to prominently feature for Kenya, Gullit termed the 27-year-old’s performances as ‘disappointing”.

MANY MISTAKES

“A lot of (Tottenham) players were disappointing because I see them every week in the Premier League. Delle Alli, oh my god, technical-wise, so bad. Wanyama, my god! technical-wise (so bad), Rose too,” Gullit said.

“Like I said, I see them every week and how is it possible to make so many mistakes. I know you’re under pressure but you need to know what to do and they didn’t.,” he added.

Gullit’s sentiments were echoed by many Spurs fans who vented their frustration and disappointment with the team’s performance on social media.

With this result, Tottenham must now beat Ajax by atleast two clear goals in the return fixture to advance to the final of the tournament.
