Samidoh’s ex-manager reappears from ‘hiding’ following father’s death

Samidoh’s former manager Moses Marite has reunited with his family having gone into ‘hiding’ since his release from police cells, following the loss of his father Kimani Marite.
Mr Kimani passed away at Nyahururu Hospital on Thursday, November 21. Marite’s sister Teresia confirmed the news to Nairobi News.
“He died when we arrived at Nyahururu Hospital. He had been struggling with heart and lung complications,” she said.
Marite was recently released from police custody on cash bail and immediately went into hiding over other debts he owes several clubs, with the amount said to total Sh2 million. Marite allegedly collected the money as a down payment to book Samidoh for performances but never informed the singer.
Another close source to the Marite family also revealed that Mr Marite, fired by Samidoh three months ago, had not visited his ailing father since he was arrested and charged with fraud. The source adds that even though he has reunited with his family, he lives in fear of being cornered with the other clients whom he swindled money from using Samidoh’s name.
Marite was released on a cash bail of Sh100,000, which family and friends contributed. Marite was arrested after allegedly mishandling deposits from Pcash Lounge in Sagana that had booked Samidoh to perform. This occasioned his fallout with his longtime friend the Mugithi singer.
According to Linus Marangi, the marketer for Pcash Lounge, Samidoh claimed that he had not received the Ksh 100,000 deposit. The arrest of Marite followed complaints from the club that, while acting as Samidoh’s manager, had accepted several advance payments on behalf of the artist without informing him.
A source close to Samidoh told Nairobi News that this incident was part of a wider con game Marite had been orchestrating on several clients, allegedly receiving booking deposits from several clubs without accounting for the funds or informing Samidoh, prompting the Muigithi sensation to fire him in September.
Marite was formally arraigned at the Baricho Magistrate’s Court on 22 October and pleaded guilty to the charges against him of fraud. Up until his dismissal, he had been Samidoh’s manager for five years.
