Sauti Sol make MAMAs nominees list
Popular boys band Sauti Sol are still on a hot awards nomination streak. The group, who were recently nominated for the BET Awards are the only nominees in this year’s MTV Africa Music Awards (MAMAs).
The nominees list was released on Thursday evening in Johannesburg, South Africa.
Top Nigerian acts like Davido and Wizkid lead the nominations list. Sauti Sol got nominations in the Best Group and Song of the Year, with their hit Sura Yako.

Their Tanzanian counterparts are well represented by Diamond, who got three nominations, and Vanessa Mdee who got one.
Uganda has no nomination in this year’s awards set to be held in Durban, South Africa on July 18.
After the list of nominees was released, Nigeria’s Burna Boy was among the artistes who complained on Twitter for failing to secure a nomination.
“Really bummed @MTVbaseAfrica didn’t nominate me. I knew I wasn’t gunna win cuz I never get wat I deserve but damn this is quite deep,” he tweeted.
