Sauti Sol’s Bien bans Eric Omondi from Sol Fest
Sauti Sol’s lead singer Bien-Aime Baraza has banned the self-proclaimed president of comedy Eric Omondi from attending this year’s Sol Fest.
Several artists from East Africa have confirmed attendance at the event slated for December 17, 2022.
Bien issued a warning to his security team not to allow the controversial Omondi at the event at whatever cost.
“I want to assure fans attending the Sol Fest this Saturday that the individual shown above, known for being a seasoned public nuisance, will not, shall not, and will never be allowed entry to Sol Fest. He may have devised a plan to camouflage his way into the venue but our able security team remains vigilant,” wrote Bien on his socials.
This follows a string of controversial moments and an exchange of not-so-rosy words between the pair.
Omondi has for long accused Kenyan musicians of not doing enough to dominate the entertainment scene in Africa. Bien has taken the sentiments personally.
Omondi and Bien were engaged in a public altercation in 2021 when they bumped into each other at the Carnivore grounds in Nairobi.
The pair then appeared to have buried the hatchet when Omondi showed up at Bien’s new entertainment joint located along Mombasa road in Nairobi.
Said Omondi: “I’m here to support a brother. Congrats on the new win.”
In response, Bien said, “Thank you Mr. president.”
