Security beefed in Nairobi in wake of terrorist attack

Security has been heightened in most parts of Nairobi in the wake of the terrorist attack in Garrisa on Thursday.

Armed police have stepped up day and night patrols within the city centre and in the suburbs.

Security guards in shopping malls have also intensified the frisking of customers in a bid to avert possibly attacks.

“We have been instructed by management to thoroughly frisking through every person and his belongings accessing this mall.” A security guard at Greenspan Mall told Nairobi News.

This comes hours after reports that security agencies in the country had averted further attacks in Mombasa and arrested several suspects in connection with the incident.

The country is still in shock following the deaths of 147 people, mostly students, at the hands of terrorits at the Garrisa University College.
