Security guard in court for assaulting friend over Sh1000


A security guard who allegedly attacked and injured a car cleaner in South C, Nairobi during a dispute over Sh1000 has been charged with assault.

Justus Khatela Munywele is facing charges of willfully assaulting Muema Musyoka, occasioning him actual bodily harm on August 30, 2022 at their car wash point.

The two quarreled over the cash that Mr Musyoka had received from a client earlier on. Mr Munywele is reported to have demanded a share of the money but Mr Musyoka turned down the request.

A scuffle ensued during which Mr Munywele allegedly punched Mr Musyoka on his hands before kicking him on the stomach.

Mr Musyoka informed their boss who escorted them to Akila Police Station where the matter was reported.

Mr Musyoka, who had reportedly suffered a fracture, was advised to seek medication and later recorded a statement leading to Mr Munywele’s arrest.

The accused denied the charges before Senior Principal Magistrate Philip Mutua at the Kibera Law Courts and was granted a cash bail of Sh20,000.

The case will be mentioned on September 14, 2022 for a pretrial and fixing of hearing dates.
