Why Senator Kang’ata is not taking newlywed wife on honeymoon

Muranga’a Senator Irungu Kang’ata, who wedded last month in a colorful event attended by President Uhuru Kenyatta, is yet to take her wife for a honeymoon holiday.

Senator Kang’ata actually harbours no such plans, in what surely goes against an age-long tradition by newlyweds to take a vacation before getting back to the normalcy of their lives.

The legislator recently revealed to a local daily the reason why he didn’t take his wife Mary Wambui on honeymoon after their wedding.

“I didn’t see any need for a honeymoon. In any case, I didn’t want to miss class and delay my student from graduating,” Senator Kang’ata said.

The 39-year-old Senator lectures at the Catholic University of Eastern Africa (CUEA).

Mr Irungu, who was one time a DJ, is a Masters Law graduate from University of Nairobi.

The couple are blessed with three children.
