Senior Counsel Samidoh? Controversial musician shares childhood dream

By Elizabeth Ngigi September 17th, 2023 2 min read

Imagine vernacular artist Samidoh donning a lawyer’s gown while articulately defending his client inside a courtroom.

Well, this could actually have been the case, had the controversial musician, born Samuel Muchoki, sought to actualize his childhood dream.

The father of five, known for his soulful mugiithi performances, shared his journey from an aspiring lawyer to becoming a police officer and a celebrated singer.

Despite not pursuing his childhood dream of becoming a lawyer, Samidoh has carved a niche for himself in the music industry as one of Kenya’s most celebrated artists.

In a nostalgic reflection, Samidoh even shared a glimpse of his KCPE (Kenya Certificate of Primary Education) results, highlighting he was Index 1, which suggests he was the best pupil in the class ahead of the national examination.

He expressed that his childhood dream of becoming a lawyer still holds a special place in his heart.

“Huyo index number one wa kwenu anafanyanga nini siku hizi,” he quipped, referring to his impressive academic achievement.

“I aspired to be a lawyer. Saa hii mimi ni One man guitor AKA. Singing policeman. Dreams not shattered bado nakula mbuku,” he added.

Had he pursued a career in law, Samidoh would have found himself in the same professional field as his baby mama Karen Nyamu.

In a recent interview with Ala C, Karen said she dreamt of becoming a lawyer from a young age.

She excelled academically and her potential to fulfill her dreams was evident.

However, she admitted to experiencing a rebellious phase before completing class 8.

Karen Nyamu credited her success to her dad, who was fully present in her life.

“I admired politician Martha Karua and I wanted to become a lawyer. My dad brought me close to him so much, and I wouldn’t want to let him down,” she said.

Karen said her dedication to her studies allowed her to graduate in law, a notable accomplishment she attributes to her father’s strictness and guidance.

“All my friends both men and women, we used to party with while on campus did not graduate in law apart from me,” she said.

Besides the aspirations, Samidoh has been involved in a love triangle drama involving baby mama Karen Nyamu who also is a politician, and estranged wife Edday Nderitu.
