Serena responds to catsuit ban at French Open

American tennis player Serena William  has laughed off the ban of her famous catsuit at the French Open.

The French Tennis Federation’s recently announced a ban against the Nike catsuit that Serana wore at the French Open in May 2018.

Williams told Associated Press that her suit was designed to help her deal with blood clots after a difficult pregnancy and delivery.

She added that she has since discovered that compression shorts help keep her blood circulating just as well.

“When it comes to fashion, you don’t want to be a repeat offender,” she joked on Saturday.

Williams wore the catsuit for her opening match, saying it made her feel like a super hero.

DIFFICULT PREGNANCY

She dedicated her outfit to new mothers after she underwent a difficult pregnancy and complications during the birth of her first child Olympia.

French Tennis Federation president Bernard Giudicelli on Friday said next year’s French Open will be tough on athlete’s dress code.

He singled out William’s 2018 outfit saying it went too far and will not be allowed next year.

“It’s a bit late because the collections are already designed but we are going to nonetheless ask the manufacturers to let us know what is coming…I believe we have sometimes gone too far. Serena’s outfit this year, for example, would no longer be accepted. You have to respect the game and the place,” he told Tennis Magazine.

Williams is now ready to ditch the catsuit for compression shorts during next year’s French Open.
