Was Sharon Otieno gang-raped before murder? Condoms found – PHOTOS

Detectives retrieved two packets of condom –one used and another unused- at the scene where slain university student Sharon Otieno’s body was dumped.

The sleuths are now probing whether the 26-year-old woman, who was seven months pregnant, may have been gang-raped by her four abductors.

On Friday, though, three days after the body was found, Nairobi News journalists visited the area and found one used condom still at the scene, something that casts doubts on how watertight the probe is.

The body was found at Obisa area near Owade bridge which is approximately one kilometer from Oyugis town.

Sharon was abducted on Monday night at Homa Bay town alongside Nation journalist Barrack Oduor, who managed to escape after jumping out of a moving vehicle.

Earlier, Oduor and Sharon met at Graca Hotel in Rongo around 7.35pm, where they were set to meet Michael Oyamo, the PA to Migori Governor Okoth Obado. The PA was to provide the journalist with information on a story he was probing about Sharon’s pregnancy.

But when Mr Oyamo arrived at Graca hotel, he said that they had to move to a different venue.

They all boarded a vehicle belonging to the PA that had two occupants and which sped towards Kisumu.

On the way, the car stopped and Mr Oyamo disembarked, two people got in and sandwiched Otieno and Oduor between them, according to the journalist.

On the way, the two men became violent and tortured them and on sensing danger, Mr Oduor jumped out of the moving vehicle at Nyangweso market on the Homa Bay-Kisumu road, and escaped into a nearby homestead, according to the journalist.

Mr Oyamo was arrested on Tuesday morning while the body of Sharon was discovered in a thicket in Kodero market.
