Shock as governor tells chief officers to sign appointment and resignation letters
Trans Nzoia Governor George Natembeya has put chief officers on the spot after saying that he will compel them to sign both resignation and appointment letters.
The county assembly’s chief officers approve after vetting will sign two letters; one for an appointment and the other for resignation.
According to the former Rift Valley Regional Commissioner, the officer will append signatures on the resignation letter but leave the date blank, which he will personally fill in on the day the officer fails to perform their duties.

The agreed terms, he added, would focus on accountability, performance, loyalty and service delivery.
“You will write your own resignation letter and sign it, I will put the date. We have people who like rushing to court to complain once they are fired, but here you would have signed your own resignation…people should work knowing that these jobs belong to the public and not their mother and father,” said Natembeya.
Natembeya insisted that no county employee hired by his office is indispensable, adding that he will not entertain nonsense.
“Nikikuandika kazi ukileta ujinga tunakufuta, hakuna huruma hapa we will just sack. Wamama wamezaa watoto wengi hapa unaona madegree zinasunguka tu.

(If I hire you and you bring nonsense, I will sack you, there is no sympathy here. Our women have given birth to many children, and you can get degrees all over this place),” Natembeya said.
“Just like when you die, people will come and say ooh you have left a big gap that cannot be filled, but tomorrow it will be filled.”
Barely two weeks after being elected in August, the tough-talking administrator turned away sixteen top officials, among them County Executive Committee members (CECs), from a meeting, for arriving minutes later than him.
