Gospel singer-turned-politician, Reuben Kigame, has responded to Kileleshwa MCA Robert Alai’s call to him to support Azimio la Umoja leader Raila Odinga in the fight against ‘electoral injustice.’

Mr Alai made the call after Mr Kigame blasted Mr Odinga for holding protest rallies to protest the outcome of last year’s General Election.

Mr Kigame asked Mr Odinga to focus on fighting the high cost of living rather than on who lost or won the elections.

The protest rallies by @RailaOdinga and @Azmio will not help Kenya if the focus is who lost or won elections. Fight for lowering of living standards for the suffering citizens then we will pay attention,” he tweeted.

In response, Alai urged Kigame to join hands with Mr Odinga as the latter was fighting for him since he (Kigame) was denied a chance on the ballot.

“You can fight for that brother. Everyone should focus on their strength. You were denied a chance on the ballot. @RailaOdinga is fighting for you,” Alai tweeted.

But in response Kigame challenged the MCA to back up his claims of Mr Odinga fighting for him.

“Very interesting that he is fighting for me. you see bro, Electoral injustice is only that if it concerns him and you guys. show me just one clip, one line, one word where @RailaOdinga said anything about my being locked out of the ballot by @IEBC.”

Mr Kigame, who initially expressed interest in contesting the presidency in last year’s polls, was among several prospective candidates who were denied a chance to be on the ballot after failing to meet the requirements of the Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC).

Mr Odinga, while speaking to journalists on Wednesday, announced that he would hold prayers at the IEBC offices after he concludes his political rallies. The ODM leader’s next two rallies are scheduled for Kisii on Friday and Kisumu on Saturday.
