Cord leaders stage a sit-down outside IEBC offices


Cord leaders and their supporters occupied a section of University Way, outside Anniversary Towers, on Monday morning in their protest to kick out electoral commission bosses.

Cord Principals Raila Odinga, Kalonzo Musyoka and Moses Wetangula led leaders and supporters in a sit-down on the tarmac road outside Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC) offices.

Anti-riot police were deployed early morning to block all entrances to Anniversary Towers, backed up with armored personnel vehicles.

Cord leaders had vowed to defy warnings by the government against their planned countrywide against the IEBC which they accuse of being impartial.

Three weeks ago, Cord leaders Raila Odinga and Moses Wetangula were forced to scamper to safety after police used teargas to break up a similar demo outside Anniversary Towers.
