Shut Up! Winnie Odinga blasts lawyer Don Kipkorir

By Mercy Simiyu September 13th, 2022 2 min read

Winnie Odinga on Monday night caused a social media outburst after she told the acclaimed lawyer Donald Kipkorir to ‘shut up.’

Kipkorir who also doubles up as a ranking member of Raila Odinga’s legal team had written a moving letter to the Azimio leader Raila Odinga after he lost his presidential bid to William Ruto.

“Dearest Raila Odinga, tomorrow begins the Presidency of H.E William Ruto. From the depths of my heart, I beseech you to stop crying for us. Don’t look out for Kenya anymore.

Your love was unrequited. We didn’t deserve your love & sacrifice. Let’s be with our foibles & chains. GODSPEED,” Kipkorir tweeted.

Winnie, who is ODM party leader Raila Odinga’s daughter, however, replied to the tweet asking him to keep quiet in a not-so-polite manner.

“Shut up for once,” she said.

She later deleted the tweet.

The flamboyant lawyer has been calling for the immediate resignation of top-ranking members of the Raila Odinga Campaign Secretariat.

Kipkorir wants Elizabeth Meyo(Chief Executive of Raila Odinga’s Campaign Team), IT expert George Njoroge (who was tasked with overseeing IT in Raila’s Presidential campaign), Suna East MP Junet Mohammed and Saitabao Ole Kanchory (Raila’s Chief Agent in the just concluded presidential elections) axed from the ODM leader’s campaign team.

The flamboyant lawyer did not cite the grounds for the dismissal of the aforesaid members of Odinga’s campaign team.

Ms Odinga late in 2021 jokingly said that she will get married in State House after her father is sworn in as President come 2022.

“Tell them that I said, Winnie Odinga will get married in 2022, on the lawns of State House, And you are all invited, so if you want that to happen, go register to vote,” she jested after issuing an arguably powerful speech to the youth.

Winnie now has been ridiculed for the comment as Kenyans decided to revive the remark moments after William Samoei Ruto was elected as the President of Kenya.

According to her trolls, Winnie has to postpone the wedding to 2027 while others opined that she might never get married.
