Six Alliance ‘bullies’ suspended, 10 prefects demoted

Alliance High School’s Board of Management has announced the suspension of six students and demotion of 10 prefects, in the wake of a wave of bullying that recently rocked the institution.

In addition, the BOM’s Ag. Chairman Sam Ncheeri also revealed in a signed statement that the institution’s Deputy Principal is being investigated as part of this scam which left scores of students injured.

All the traumatized students in the school will also undergo intense counselling, Ncheeri added.

“First and foremost, the BOM acknowledges that there have been serious cases of indiscipline including bullying and the BOM would like to apologise profusely to the students and parents among other stakeholders for these unacceptable incidents that took place at Alliance High School,” said Ncheeri.

ASSAULT CHARGE

This statement by the BOM was made public even as six students of the institution on Friday faced an assault charge in court.

The Form 4 students are accused of assaulting and causing bodily harm upon  certain Form One student.

The bullying scandal at the highly respected learning institution became public knowledge following a report by the Teachers Service Commision (TSC) alongside the Ministry of Education officers.

Details of the harrowing experiences were unearthed following face to face interviews with students, guidance and counselling staff and questionnaires by the boarding master, principal, his deputies and students.

Some of the students claimed that they had been beaten up by sticks and electricity cables, slapped and at times even forced to lie on graves for long hours.
