Six sporting events to look out for this weekend


1. Volleyball
The national ladies team is in the 2015 CAVB African Championship finals after trouncing Cameroon 3-0 in the semis. They will take on longtime rivals Algeria as they seek to add another continental trophy to the already overflowing cabinet.

The match kicks off at 4.00PM on Saturday so make your way to MISC, Kasarani and cheer on Malkia Strikers to victory.

2. Football
Harambee Stars have travelled to Addis Ababa for CHAN qualifiers match against their hosts, Ethiopia. CHAN is a continental tournament for local based players. The local boys go into this tie their head held high after battling to one-all draw with much fancied Congo. The game kicks off at 5.00PM local time on Sunday and we shall bring you updates as they happen.

3. Rugby
Kenya A and Kenya Lionesses have landed in Kampala ready to defend the mountain! Elgon cup return matches happen Saturday at Legends Club in Kampala.

Kenya A will be seeking to protect a 3 point lead against Uganda Rugby Cranes, while the ladies will be all out to break the deadlock after their first leg match ended in a 5-5 draw at RFUEA Grounds. Fanatic, sit back and relax as we bring you live updates from Kampala!

4. Athletics
You only see them on TV racing in some European or American meets. You now have an opportunity to see our world renown stars live in action at Nyayo national stadium.

Olympians Silas Kiplagat, Anthony Chemut and Maureen Jelagat will be out looking for a place in national championships as they take part in Prisons Championships. Sprinter Ibrahim Muya will also be back in action. We hope to see you at MISC as you cheer on these international stars!

5. Hockey
Strathmore Ladies will host KU Ladies in a national ladies match to be played at City Park. Other matches will Strathmore men entertain Parklands on Saturday and then take on USIU-A on Sunday.

There are at least a half a dozen matches on the card this weekend. Brave the cold weather and come out and support the game!

6. Basketball
In basketball there are several matches lined up in Nyayo Indoor Stadium. The pick of the weekend is the big clash between Ulinzi Warriors v Coop Bank at 12.00PM Saturday. On Sunday Equity takes KU Pirates. Kakamega is also in the city and will have two matches over the weekend.
