How social media received news of Prince Harry’s engagement
Netizens have been expressing varied reactions to news of the engagement of Prince Harry to his American girlfriend Meghan Markle.
The engagement was officially announced on Monday through a statement by Kensington Palace.
The two lovebirds are expected to tie the knot next year in a lavish royal ceremony.
Although the two have tried keeping their relationship under wraps, a lot has been said about Ms Markle.
Meghan, commonly known for her role as Rachel in the drama series ‘Suits’, has been on the spotlight for her mixed ethnicity ever since her relationship with Prince Harry became public.
According to the British newspaper Guardian, Markle spoke of her heritage as a source of pride.
“My dad is Caucasian and my mom is African-American,” she said in a past interview.
The online community offered congratulatory messages to the couple, but also cheeky remarks accompanied by hilarious memes.

And then there were those who were sentimental, bringing up the actress onscreen fiancé Mike Ross in the drama series ‘Suits’.
NOPE. The only guy meant for Meghan Markle is Mike Ross from Suits and that’s it. I don’t understand this “engagement” news pic.twitter.com/DW6Khn6H0L
