Social services the big winner in city’s budget
Roads and street lighting are the biggest winners in the county’s new budget.
Nurseries and the fire department have also been allocated huge amounts.
Sh1.3 billion has been earmarked to improve the city’s roads, while.Sh1 billion has been allocated to street lighting.
Sh156 million has been set aside for general fire fighting, of which Sh100 million will go towards buying three new fire engines.
However, the budget for 2014-15 provides only Sh607 million to improve the city’s dilapidated schools, a far cry from the Sh2 billion which Governor Evans Kidero had promised.
