Socialite takes a swipe at Lupita, says Oscar dress was ‘borrowed’

Nigerian socialite Reprudencia Sonkey, popularly known as Dencia, has taken another swipe at Lupita Nyong’o, this time claiming that the Sh13.6 million dress the actress wore at the Oscar Awards was borrowed.

Dencia, who is also a pop singer, owns a line of skin-bleaching products including the Whitenicious cream.

The heavily bleached singer, through her twitter account, said if one cannot afford a gown they should not borrow.

The tweet read, “Moral of the story, cut Ur coat according to Ur size. If u can’t afford it in real life, don’t borrow, beg or steal it. #BorrowposeGoneWrong.”

Dencia made the statement on the day Lupita’s Oscar dress went missing after a thief reportedly stole it from her hotel room.

The dress was recovered a day later at a trash bag after the thief allegedly discovered that the pearls were man-made and worthless.

Dencia’s statement attracted massive criticism, with tweeps telling her she would reach Lupita’s level.

@CyndyDavid tweeted, “@IamDencia Really? How many people buy their red-carpet gowns? It’s called marketing honey… You tweeting at almost everyone in Hollywood?”

The singer  responded, “@CyndyDavid I have designed 4 a lot of celebrities & Joe exclusive has pulled me dresses too so I know how it works.”

@kejijokes tweeted, “@IamDencia that’s a really too dumb thing to say… I mean who are you to Lupita?”
