Sofapaka exit Confederations Cup
Sofapaka bowed out of the Caf Confederations Cup at the preliminary stage after falling 1-2 to FC Platinum of Zimbabwe in the return fixture at the 15,000 seater Mandava Stadium, Zvishavane on Saturday.
The defeat saw the GOtv Shield champions exit the tournament on a 4-2 aggregate loss having suffered a similar defeat in the first leg in Nairobi two weeks ago.
Under pressure to win the match by two clear goals, Sam Timbe’s men started brightly drawing first blood in the fourth minute through danger man Abdoul Fiston Razak.
Razak’s goal jolted the home side as Sofapaka continued to searching for a second goal.

However, Norman Mapeza’s team would regain the advantage after leveling the scores at the quarter mark through Walter Mtasa.
Platinum, who always looked dangerous on the break, pulled the killer blow, nine minutes after the interval through Wisdom Mutasa to essentially send Sofapaka out of the tourney.
Earlier, in the 27th minute, the hosts had spurned a chance to punish the Kenyan representatives when Raphael Muduviva raced clear to find Donald ‘Dombo’ Ngoma whose effort narrowly missed the target.
Platinum have now set up a two leg date with Tanzanian giants Yanga, who beat Defense Forces FC of Botswana 3-2 on aggregate in a preliminary round fixture.
