Somali national, 23, captured in viral video jumping from hotel room

A somber atmosphere enveloped Suhufi Hotel in Bondeni on Abel Nasir Road as tragedy unfolded with the reported suicide attempt of a 23-year-old Somali national, Abdirazak Ahmed Nur.

The incident was brought to the attention of the authorities by Abdulrazak Kassim, the supervisor at Suhufi Hotel.

According to the police report from Central Police Station, Abdulrazak Kassim notified the police that Nur had jumped from the fourth-floor window of Room No. 403, landing on the first-floor balcony.

Swift action by the hotel management saw Nur promptly transported to the Coast General Hospital for urgent medical assistance. The young man is reported to have sustained injuries from the fall, and he was admitted for treatment.

Upon gaining access to Room No. 403, officers from the National Police Service (NPS) at Central Police Station discovered signs of damage within the room.

Items such as a television, curtains, and a lamp were reportedly in disarray, raising questions about the circumstances leading up to the tragic incident.

The initial police report indicated that the victim was in critical condition upon admission to the hospital. Despite efforts to stabilise him, the young man succumbed to his injuries.

The incident is now a matter under investigation and authorities are expected to conduct a thorough inquiry into the events surrounding Abdirazak’s apparent suicide.
