Son kills 87 year-old mother with her walking stick


Police in Vihiga are holding a man after he killed his 87 year-old mother after a confrontation over domestic differences.

According to reports from Luanda Police Station, Isaiah Otieno picked a quarrel with his mother Margaret Ogutu on Saturday evening before he snatched her walking stick and hit her on the head.

The elderly woman fell down and never recovered.

Neighbours in village of Kaila rushed to help her but found her dead.

The suspect was later arrested after fleeing the scene.

Her body was moved to Coptic hospital mortuary for postmortem.

Elsewhere in Karobangi, Nairobi, police officers on patrol shot and killed a suspected thief after he had robbed passengers in a matatu.

The suspect was in the company of three others who escaped after they robbed passengers in a matatu on Friday evening.

The three, who were armed with pistols, injured a passenger in the matatu on the Korogocho-Dandora route. A homemade gun with three rounds of ammunition was recovered.

And a man is nursing serious injuries after he was rescued by police officers on patrol after he refused to pay for a bottle of soda in a restaurant along Accra road, in the city centre.

The man, who was in the company of three others while armed with pistols, was nearly killed by members of the public after the customers in the said restaurant raised alarm.

Members of the public came to the rescue of the cashier after the gang started shooting in the air to scare away the customers.

The three ran away but one of them was cornered and subjected to mob justice, a gun with two rounds ammunition was recovered.
