Sonko finds Sh7m stashed in cash office during sting operation – VIDEO

Nairobi governor Mike Sonko on Wednesday conducted a sting operation at City Hall following a tip off and found sh7 million stashed in the cash office.

Governor Sonko made a surprise visit to the cash office and found Tuesday’s collections yet to be banked.

He immediately called the officer in charge and informed her that she will need to record a statement why Tuesday’s collection was still unbanked by Wednesday mid-morning.

Sonko also directed that CCTV cameras be installed in the cash office to be monitored from his office.

He further directed that all county collections be banked by close of business every day to discourage corruption

The governor’s sting operation comes a day after his deputy Polycarp Igathe made a surprise visit to City Hall and found that the transition committee was yet to change the governor’s portrait.

He also questioned why the underground parking lot was dirty and poorly lit and instructed officials to restore order and cleanliness.

This is what Kenyans online thought of Sonko’s sting operation.
