Sonko hangs out with celeb artistes to beat cold Nairobi weather
Nairobi Senator Mike Sonko on Friday hosted two renowned Kenyan celebrities at his Athi River farm house in what Nairobi News established was just a simple hangout for friends to catch up.
Pictures of the controversial politician keeping warm around an open fire place in the company of DJ Crème de la Crème and Bien Aime of Sauti Sol have since been widely shared on social media.
Yet another photo posted on Instagram by Crème de la Crème shows the DJ with his wife standing next to the senator and Bien Aime with his fiancé.
Captioned “It’s cold outchea but stay scheming”, the first photo sparked speculation over the agenda of the meeting.
‘POLITICAL THEORY’
Some on social media interpreted it as perhaps a move by the senator to co-opt the two into his political campaign team ahead of next year’s General Election while others speculated that the two artistes may have gone to seek financial assistance from the senator, who is known for his generosity.
But when Nairobi News reached Bien Aime to enquire about the purpose of the hang out, the Sauti Sol group member was quick to laugh off the “political theory.”
“Have you ever seen me or Sauti Sol involved in any campaigns? We never will. The meeting had nothing to do with campaigns. Sonko is a good friend of mine and we usually meet during our events which he sometimes attends. It was just a simple hangout for friends to catch up,” the singer told Nairobi News.
