Sonko: Nairobi county has recovered more than 100 acres of public land

The Nairobi County government has recovered over 100 acres of public land that had been grabbed by private developers, this is according to Governor Mike Sonko.

Speaking during the Jamhuri Day celebrations on Wednesday at the Nyayo National Stadium, Sonko said that the county had also issued 50,000 title deeds in Nairobi.

He said the government had played a great role on matters development in the city.

“I thank the national government for the good relationship that we share. By working together, we will be able to make great strides as counties and national government,” he said.

ROADS AND SECURITY

The governor listed roads and security as some of the gains he had received from government.

The Governor said that he was also keen to ensure that Nairobi rivers are cleaned plus he will ensure all structures put up near rivers are demolished.

The county boss also said that they were plans to construct and refurbish markets as well as fire stations.

Other projects in the pipeline, Sonko said, it is the joint strategy for the Rapid Bus Transit system and commuter rail to create reliable public transport for the city.
