Tragedy struck the Osinya family last year after Al-Shabaab militants attacked Joy in Jesus Church in Likoni, Mombasa and shot dead their mother Veronica Akinyi.

Baby Osinya was being held by his mother when the hooded gunmen stormed the church and opened fire. The gunmen shot her as she protected her child from the madness.

One of the bullets tore through Veronicah’s body and stuck into little Satrine’s head.

The bullet in Satrine’s head was later removed after a three-hour operation by neurosurgeons at Kenyatta National Hospital.

Senator Sonko adopted two Osinya boys after the media had highlighted their plight, and was even said to have secured their father a job to enable him fend for himself.
