Senator Sonko reassembles his rescue team

By DAVID KWALIMWA February 20th, 2016 1 min read

Nairobi Senator Mike Mbuvi Sonko has reassembled the Sonko Rescue Team.

The flamboyant politician revealed this development on his official Facebook page on Friday.

This is a complete turnaround to his declaration last year that he had disbanded the rescue team – which at the time offered free services to Nairobi residents including provision of water, health care services and transport for weddings and funerals.

In the past, the controversial politician has used his rescue team to highlight the frailties of Governor Evans Kidero’s county government.

GUBERNATORIAL SEAT

While announcing the reassembly of the rescue team, Sonko urged those facing challenges in transporting bodies of their loved for burial to contact his rescue team to provide the services for free.

“This week we assisted in transporting the bodies of Joseph Kyalo, Gilbert Mwalumbo, Alice Mwagure, Ayako Odinga, and Samuel Kiema,” the politician wrote on Facebook.

Sonko, alongside former Devolution Cabinet Secretary Anne Waiguru and politicians Dennis Waweru and Johnson Sakaja, have announced their interest in challenging Dr Kidero for Nairobi’s gubernatorial seat in next year’s general elections.
