Sore losers Gor Mahia refuse to take runners up medals

Controversy marred the end of the DSTV Super Cup match in Mombasa on Saturday evening, when Gor Mahia refused to collect their runners up medals after losing to Bandari.

A revamped Bandari won the highly contested match by a solitary goal courtesy of Kenya international midfielder Anthony ‘Muki’ Kimani.

But drama would play out after the final whistle when frustrated Gor Mahia players snubbed the post match pleasantries including receiving the medals.

Kenyan Premier League CEO Jack Oguda later confirmed that indeed Gor Mahia had refused to pick their medals.

It is reported the Kenyan Premier League champions felt aggrieved by a number of issues, including the decision to play this match in Mombasa and perceived poor officiating.

Gor Mahia finished the match with 10 men following Harun Shakava’s sending off and also had a goal by Jacob Keli disallowed.
