Spare us this 2024, please! Twendy Twendy star Justina Syokau reacts to Kenyans warning
Popular Kamba singer and ‘Twendi Twendi’ hitmaker Justina Syokau, has decided to break away from her annual tradition of releasing a New Year’s themed song as fans beg her not to spoil 2024.
Having consistently dropped new tracks at the onset of each year since her breakout hit in 2020, Justina faced an unusual wave of online memes and pleas from Kenyans urging her to refrain from creating a song about 2024.
The artist, known for her distinctive releases that somehow resonate with the challenges of the year, recently unveiled ‘2023’ on December 27, 2022.
However, she now says that the unexpected pushback has forced her to reconsider her routine.
In a candid interview with an online media outlet, Justina, visibly preoccupied with personal matters, exclaimed,
“Right now, I am busy being shown love, so let me concentrate on that.”

She dismissed the idea of a 2024 song, expressing frustration with fans harassing her on the streets and inundating her DMs with pleas.
“I won’t be singing a 2024 song. People should stop being angry with me and stop being in my DMs telling me to do whatever I want but not to sing a 2024 song. I have no business singing a 2024 song,” she declared.
Despite her resolute stance, disappointed fans took to social media to express their mixed reactions.
@bangtanworld urged Justina to “Just release that song and stop clout chasing,” while @joyreeke7 cautioned her against using the opportunity for clout.
@patricklopeo and @naturenature931 also chimed in, reflecting the diverse opinions surrounding the singer’s decision.
In November, Syokau said she had a month and a half to find a husband in order to fulfill the dream she prophesied in her song ‘Mwaka wa kupanuliwa’.
The Kamba singer was in a video seen holding a placard in the streets of Nairobi advertising for a billionaire husband before the end of the year.
