Spend a good time with family at park

Nairobi is among world cities that boast of having the most environment friendly parks.

Just eight kilometres from the CBD is the Nairobi National Park.

The park has cheetahs, lions and even leopards, and is mind boggling when you realise how close to town they are.

Did you know that with a four-wheel drive, you can be able to have an awesome tour of the park?

While there, you will find all your safari needs for just Sh500.

If you don’t have the money for a good game safari out of the city, then this is the place to be.

It is interesting to do the self-game drive because you will be exploring the wild on your own.

By stopping other vehicles to find out where the animals are, you might  spot lions, rhino, buffalos, hippos, antelopes, giraffes, monkeys, baboons and zebras. However, you will not find an elephant there. They are too destructive to allow in a comparatively small area.

These animals are easy to spot in the morning so spare the whole morning for the game drive.

If you have money to spare, try the drive on an open four-wheel and you will be amazed at the beauty within this park.

You can also picnic, and for those who are adventurous, you can camp there as well.

The latter has to be with the approval of the Kenya Wildlife Service but the several picnic sites are far away from the dangers of the wild animals. The park also boasts the Nairobi Safari Walk, located near the main entrance.

It is a great place where you can learn about Kenya’s parks and reserves as well as seeing various animals.

The place is very relaxing and intimate. If you plan to visit, make sure you have walking shoes so that you can do the nature trail.

A guided walk is more fun as you get to ask questions and at least talk to someone knowledgeable about animals and the environment.
