Meru governor Kawira Mwangaza has responded to her impeachment saying it is a spiritual mission as attack follows anointing.

According to a Twitter post, she made hours after the impeachment, Ms Mwangaza claimed that it was a spiritual orchestration.

The first female Meru governor was impeached after just 112 days in office with all Member County Assembly (MCAs) present at the assembly unanimously voting for her removal of office for alleged gross misconduct, abuse of office and gross violation of the Constitution and county laws.

However, Ms Mwangaza in response said, “They have used Millions of money. Sleepless nights. A lot of energy. Sponsored headlines. Engaging the public seriously. Connections with different types of people. Just to confirm what God wants them to do. A spiritual Mission. (Brand Building) #AttackFollowsAnointing.”

Sixty-seven MCAs voted to impeach the governor. Nkomo MCA Kithinji Ethaiba was absent and was said to be sick.

The impeachment comes barely two weeks after Ms Mwangaza apologised 70 times after Justice Thripsisa Cherere threw away the impeachment motion saying that the procedure used by MCAs to process the proposed motion was flawed and could violate the governor’s Constitutional rights.

Additionally, Ms Mwangaza claimed that she had not done anything wrong despite the 70 apologies. Prior to the MCAs voting for her removal, they broke into song and dance outside the assembly ahead of the hearing of the impeachment motion.

Dressed in black suits, white shirts and red ties, the MCAs sang and danced to ‘Kaende Kaende,’ before walking into the assembly to pray ahead of the hearing.

In response, Governor Mwangaza who was set to appear before the assembly for the hearing scheduled a post on her Facebook page, that said; “Galatians 6:9 NIV Let us not become weary in doing good, for at the proper time we will reap a harvest if we do not give up. #merumustbehappy #serikaliyamamaikoimara.”
