Spurs grants ‘troubled’ Adebayor leave

The English media has reported that Togolese player Emmanuel Adebayor has been granted compassionate leave by his club Tottenham Hotspur for a second time in four months.

Adebayor has been excused by the English Premier League club’s coach Mauricio Pochettino from training this week and looks set to miss the final match of the 2014-2015 league season away to Everton on Sunday.

This development comes in the backdrop of a bitter feud between the player and members of his family that has spilled over into social media in recent weeks.

In his latest Facebook tirade, the former Arsenal and Real Madrid striker on Wednesday recounted in great detail how his two brothers once held a knife to his throat in an attempt to extort money from him.

The 31 year old also said he had contemplated taking his own life “a couple of times”.

Now, its seems, Spurs management has opted to give the ‘troubled player’ some time off to  clear his mind and possibly sort out his problems in time for the start of the new season.

In his earlier Facebook revelations about his family, Adebayor, who has a long history of tussling with the Togo Football Association officials over allowances, denied claims he had evicted his mother from his house in Ghana.

He also claimed that people were attempting to bewitch him and further accused his younger brother of stealing 21 watches and signed memorabilia given to him by other football star including Zinedine Zidane and the late Marc Vivian Foe.

Adebayor has previously been given time off by his club in December after a close family member fell seriously ill.
