Step aside Passaris, Shebesh: Here is Maina Kageni the Nairobi ‘Women’ Rep

Radio personality Maina Kageni has decided to enter the murky waters of city politics and officially announced his bid  for the position of ‘Nairobi Women Representative’.

Kageni made the tongue in cheek announcement on Wednesday on his Instagram page, posting a picture of himself as an independent candidate.

His choice of slogan is catchy, ‘Liberating Nairobi Women’.

Conspicuously, Kageni refers to the seat as Women Representative. It’s officially a Woman Representative seat.

“It’s now no longer a secret. I’ll be on the ballot and my symbol is a smart weave (made of 100% human hair). Nairobi women deserve to have the very best! Come out and vote in large numbers,” wrote Maina Kageni.

The Classic 105 morning presenter also recorded a video clip of himself addressing a media briefing in which he outlined his reasons to vie for the seat.

He also wished his ‘competitors’ Rachel Shebesh (Jubilee) and Esther Passaris (ODM) all the best in their campaigns.

Constitutionally, the seat of a Woman Representative can only be occupied by a woman.

Kageni has roundly been christened a ‘Woman Rep’ on his show owing to his constant support of women and feminism agenda.

His bid for political office was met with diverse reactions from his fans and the online community.

Surprisingly, majority of women supported his bid.
