Stephen Letoo hosts Men’s Conference on Valentine’s Day

By Sammy Waweru February 14th, 2024 2 min read

Seasoned journalist Stephen Letoo convened a men’s conference at Uhuru Park Gardens in Nairobi on February 14, 2024, with the gathering seeking to address challenges facing men.

Mr Letoo is a political reporter attached to Citizen TV.

The Men’s Conference, themed ‘Men and Safety,’ also has several meetings going on in other parts of the country.

This year, it is focusing on the welfare and, more importantly, the safety of bodaboda riders.

Mr Letoo expressed his concern over the high number of riders lost through road accidents, according to data from the National Transport and Security Authority (NTSA).

In an interview with Nairobi News, the renowned media personality said men face a lot of challenges that remain unresolved, hence the need to make Valentine’s Day a forum for them to express themselves.

“Challenges facing men are serious mental health encounters resulting from financial pressure, and therefore the Men’s Conference is important for them to speak up. They hardly talk to each other about problems they face,” he stated.

The self-declared Men’s Conference Chair, though he insists that he was unanimously nominated by men across the country, regretted that the country continues to lose the breadwinners in families.

He observed that it is a gap that can be addressed by holding forums to hear their outcries.

“The Men’s conference provides them with lessons on how to maneuver around toxic relationships. Valentine’s Day is meant for love; let us show them love and use the space to listen to them and address their challenges,” he told Nairobi News.

Last year, in 2023, Letoo successfully convened a similar inaugural meeting at Carnivore in Nairobi that attracted hundreds and thousands of men.

The theme was ‘Creating Better Men’.

A year later, he boasts that the Men’s Conference Group is duly registered as an association as required by the law and the Kenyan Constitution.

As Valentine’s Day 2024 continues to unfold, the Men’s Affairs Chair regrets that for some, it ends as a forum for separation, especially for those who do not meet each other’s expectations.

“It’s Valentine’s Day because it’s the day of love, it’s the day where a lot of relationships end because of not meeting expectations over Valentine’s gifts.”

Mr Letoo is a supporter of polygamous marriage.
