Stranded Kenyan athletes return from Brazzavile, but lose their luggage


The final batch of Kenyan athletes and officials who were stranded in Brazzaville, Congo, after competing at the All African Games arrived home on Wednesday evening.

But they were welcomed home by a fresh challenge of missing luggage.

Nairobi News had on Monday exclusively revealed how the 21 Kenyans were stranded at the Maya Maya airport for more than 72 hours after Kenya Airways crew mishandled their travel arrangements.

When the team finally returned home on Wednesday, they were stunned to discover that their luggage had remained in Brazzaville in an apparent “mix up”.

“So the airline representatives have confirmed we won’t get our luggage until Friday at the very earliest because that is when the next flight from Brazzaville arrives in Nairobi. Fingers crossed.

“Still, we are very happy to be back home after a long time away and especally with a diffucult past few days,” one of the athletes told Nairobi News.
