Student leader to spend millions of shillings on campaign
An aspirant for a top student leadership post at the University of Nairobi will spend Sh15 million and has taken to Facebook to flaunt the dollars.
Paul Ongili alias Babu Owino, who is contesting for the Students Organisation of Nairobi University (SONU) chairmanship recently released his multimillion shillings campaign budget that will also bankroll other SONU candidates.
Photos of Babu flaunting dollars have filled the university’s forum page as well as his personal Facebook account.
Although the student leader has not posted any of the photos nor commented on them, those posting them are believed to be part of his campaign team.
Babu was the SONU Chairman between 2011 and 2012 and after graduating with a degree in Actuarial Science, he enrolled for a second degree in law and contested in the 2014 SONU election where he emerged top.
His budget for the 2014 was rumored to have been Sh 4 million and he is now set to spend three times that amount. Babu is famous for reviving the students union after it had been disbanded in 2010.
