Sumra: Why I am going to work with Uhuru
First-time Orange MP Irshad Sumra has vowed to work closely with President Kenyatta and the Jubilee Government.
The MP announced he had decided to ignore loyalty to the ODM in favour of a good working relationship with the government for the sake of development in his constituency, Embakasi South and Nairobi at large.
He admitted he had discussed a possible metro rail link to decongest Nairobi with the President, and added:
Personal friend
“He is my personal friend. I will work with him. We have worked together since our Kanu days. His government is ours; all of us,” said Mr Sumra.
Mr Sumra joined a growing list of MPs who rode on the popularity of former Prime Minister Raila Odinga’s ODM to win seats in the last General Election but have gone against the party to forge close working relationships with President Kenyatta, his deputy William Ruto and the Jubilee Government.
