Susan Kaittany pays Sh40k debt as auctioneers close in on Spa
Reality TV star and businesswoman Susan Kaittany has averted a crisis that could have seen her Posh Palace Hair Studio and Spa auctioned off over a Sh40,500 debt.
Last month, auctioneers visited the Nairobi spa and attached assets that could have seen Ms. Kaittany lose more than Sh500,000 to recover the Sh40,500 debt following a court ruling against her.
In a judgment handed down on August 1, 2024, by a Milimani Small Claims Court, Ms Kaittany, who appeared on The Real Housewives of Nairobi Season 1, was ordered to pay the debt owed to Blueberry Africa.
Stephen Murithi Mutua, the sole proprietor of Blueberry Africa, went to court on February 2 this year and sued the TV personality and beauty entrepreneur, known for her beautician business, over the arrears arising from a podcast production produced last year.
Mr . Mutua told the court that his company recorded and produced several episodes of Ms. Kaitany’s Dangerously Honest podcast at the Dusit Princess Hotel in June 2023, but the celebrity sent him on a wild goose chase when he sent an invoice.

Nairobi News has since established that Ms. Kaittany was quick to avert the crisis by paying the arrears, preventing Interfield Auctioneers from auctioning off the assets they had attached.
“Ms Kaittany wasn’t auctioned. On the day the auctioneers moved in to seize the assets for auctioning after the lapse of the seven days window period given to her since attaching the assets, they were presented with a cheque for our client that cleared all outstanding debts including all accrued interest as ordered by the court,” a representative of James T Makori Advocates told Nairobi News.
On August 1, 2024, Magistrate Kiongo Kagenyo ruled in favor of Blueberry Africa after finding Ms Kaittany guilty.
“The court has looked at and considered the lodged request of judgment and in the absence of entering an appearance by the respondent or filing of any response, the court hereby enters judgment in favor of the claimant as against the respondent for a sum of Sh40,500 that shall earn interest at the rate of 125 per annum from 1st July 2023 until payment is full. Further, the claimant is awarded an all-inclusive cost of Sh15,000,” read the judgment.
Ms Kaittany still could not honor the judgment and by the time Interfield Auctioneers stormed Posh Palace on 6th November, the debt had risen to sh61,984 on account of the court’s interest rate.
The auctioneers served Ms. Kaittany with the warrants of Attachment and Sale that provided for a 7-day proclamation notice.
Part of the assets that had been attached by the auctioneers included hair dryers valued at Sh20,000, steamers at Sh25,000, saloon chairs at Sh40,000, foot spa at Sh50,000, massage tables at Sh10,000, old office tables at Sh5,000 among other assets. The auctioneers also slapped Ms Kaittany with an invoice charge of Sh38,600.
