Suspected gangster gunned down in Shauri Moyo, matatu tout found dead in Kayole


A suspected thug was shot dead by the police following a botched robbery in Kiambu slums near Shauri Moyo on Wednesday.

According reports from the police, the deceased was part of a four-man gang that was robbing members of the public who raised the alarm.

Police responded but the gang members defied orders to surrender resulting into a shootout. The deceased’s body was taken to City Mortuary to await identification.

FOUND DEAD

Elsewhere, a matatu tout was found dead in his house in Kayole in what police believe to be a case of suicide.

The man who used to work in a matatu belonging to Forward Travelers Sacco was found hanging by the neck from a window grill inside his bedroom

The incident was reported at Kayole Police Station and although the police suspect the man committed suicide, the 28 year old male, who lived alone in the house, did not leave any suicide not.

His body was taken to City Mortuary as the police launched investigations into the circumstances surrounding his death.

STOVE EXPLOSION

Meanwhile, a 15 year old boy escaped unhurt in Masimba stage, Kayole, after a stove he was using to prepare supper exploded.

According to his brother, Dennis Muli Muinde, he had left his younger brother in the house cooking while he went to the shop.

On his way back he met his brother outside and informed him that the house was on fire. Members of the public responded and managed put out the fire. Property of unknown value was destroyed during the incident.
