Suspected pedophile who jumped bail in the UK arrested in Kenya


Detectives attached to the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) on Friday arrested a suspected pedophile who is wanted in the United Kingdom.

The 51-year-old suspect, identified as Mr Anthony Kamau aka Anthony Kinuthe aka Anthony Kinuthia Kamau, has reportedly been on the run for three years after jumping bail in the UK.

In a statement, the DCI said the the suspect, who allegedly sexually molested minors, was arrested by officers drawn from the Transnational Organized Crimes Unit.

“He is wanted at the Chelmsford Crown Court of Great Britain and Northern Ireland, to answer to charges of sexual harassment of minors,” the DCI said.

Some of the charges the suspect is facing include engaging in non- penetrative sexual activity with one girl and inciting another underage girl to perform a sexual act. The suspect is also reported to have sexually assaulted underage girls since 2005.

According to the DCI, the suspect has pending charges in the UK having been arraigned in court in November 2019 and granted bail. However, Mr Kamau is reported to have silently sneak back to Kenya where the DCI said he has been engaging detectives in a game of hide and seek until he was arrested.
