Tanzania now bans the movie Fifty Shades of Grey

Tanzania has followed the prudish ways of her neighbour Kenya  by banning the movie ‘Fifty Shades of Grey’ early last week.

The Kenya Film and Classification Board banned the movie because of “prolonged and explicit sexual scenes depicting women as sexual slaves”.

According to Dar es Salaam-based Clouds FM journalist Millard Ayo, the Tanzania Film Board confirmed that they have banned the movie from being screened or distributed in Tanzania.

“The ban was effective as of Friday last week,” said Millard.

Since its premiere last week, the movie has caused mixed reactions all over the world, with some countries celebrating it while others banning and classifying it as soft pornography.

Activists have also come out in Kenya to oppose the ban of the movie.
