Taxi driver charged with attempted rape
A taxi driver who reportedly touched a woman’s private parts inside his car has been charged with committing an indecent act with an adult.
Daniel Waweru is accused of touching the private parts of the complainant without her consent and assaulting her along Murang’a road in Nairobi after she resisted his attempt to force himself into her on June 6.
The suspect is said to have picked the victim from an office in Ngara to take her to an estate within the Nairobi Metropolitan area.
The two then started drinking, and at some point, the driver stopped to buy more drinks.
Waweru later refused to drop her and sped off towards Murang’a road where he attempted to rape her.
He later took her to a small town within Murang’a County where she remained in the car.
She was rescued by the police after sharing details with her family.
He denied the charges before senior principal magistrate Esther Bhoke of Kibera law courts.
He has been freed on bond.
