Teenager jailed for kissing girlfriend at school

A Turkish teenage boy has been sentenced to four years imprisonment for kissing his girlfriend at school.

The 16-year-old from Antalya was filmed by a classmate and the video shared around the school.

The school’s management then filed a lawsuit that saw the boy and five other pupils charged.

Among those charged was the pupil who filmed and the other four were those who shared the “indecent video”.

The five were facing charges of “using children in the production of inappropriate images” and “sharing inappropriate images in which children were used.”

They were all acquitted by the Heavy Penalty Court.

The 16-year-old kisser was found guilty of sexual assault and sentenced to four years imprisonment.

Zuhal Merve Ozfidan, the boy’s lawyer, said she would appeal the verdict.

The legal age of consent in Turkey is 15 and in 2016, the government introduced heavier penalties for abuse of children under the age of 12 with the marriageable age remaining to be 18.
