Renowned media personality Terryanne Chebet has candidly shared her challenges and triumphs as she embarks on the remarkable journey of returning to school to complete her undergraduate degree, even with a wealth of 17 years of work experience under her belt.

In a heartfelt Instagram post, Chebet unveiled her inner thoughts as she prepared for her upcoming exams, admitting to grappling with concepts of traditions, values, and theories that she encountered in her coursework.

Adding a touch of irony to her educational pursuit, Chebet highlighted the misconception held by many that she was pursuing a post-graduate degree. She playfully revealed that, in reality, her lecturers and fellow students are significantly younger than herself.

“Trust me, It’s not fun returning to complete an undergraduate degree with 17 years of work experience surrounded by my fellow students who could be my sons and daughters, and some people thinking you’re back to do your PHD πŸ™πŸΎπŸ™ƒ ! πŸ™ƒ I even suspect that some of my lecturers are younger than I am! πŸ˜„ But, that idiom, age is just a number has never felt more appropriate. 😊🀣.”

To buckle up, Chebet states that she believes in the power of pursuing one’s dreams and hers is going back to school. She wrote, “My conviction? Sometimes, we must be courageous enough to step back to catapult forward. I’ve had an incredibly beautiful career, and I thank God deeply for it, and I’m setting up the stage for the next. Why? Because I firmly believe that my next level requires it.”

The media icon career started at the Kenya Broadcasting Corporation (KBC) before moving to CNBC Africa, and later to Royal Media Services-owned Citizen TV in 2010.

She would then be fired from Citizen TV in 2018, and although the news shook her, she is indebted to her strong support system of family and friends that pulled her back to reality.

“The dip that I had when I lost my job could have been a moment of despair. You know like so what next? I was at my prime, I had done a good job, it happened and it had to happen. But when I look back I’m like it was necessary because there were some lessons that I needed to learn and if that didn’t happen I wouldn’t be where I am.”

She then joined Fanaka TV before she left to join Metropol TV where she was the general manager till 2020 when she left to focus on her personal business.
